chip restaurants can be traced to the origin of the 'fast food' revolution, and have come a long way from the first recorded "Chippy" or "Chipper" located at the present site of Oldham's Tommyfield Market, circa 1860.    

merging fish with chips soon followed, notably one in london of Joseph Malin, circa 1860, and  shop in mossley in the north of england, greater manchester of Mr Lees, circa 1863
